  • The lake Garda is with its 370 km2, the biggest of all Italian lakes. It is 52 km long, up to 18 km wide and reaches a dept of 347 m, which also makes it one of the most important water reserves in Europe. With its beautiful colours and shapes it has always left its visiters breathless,- with the long neck enclosed by steep mountains in the northern end and southwards extending in the Plain, between the morenic hills. Thanks to its mild climate, this lake is the most mediterranean among the alpine lakes. Since the prehistory, it has always been a cradle for different cultures which have been crossing the area.
